Music

The main thrust of the music program at the Cordova First Baptist Church is to provide music for the Sunday morning worship services. Anyone is invited to join the choir. A basic ability to read music and follow direction and a love for good church music are essential. Participating in these groups gives an opportunity to help lead in worship and broadens your own personal worship experience. They also can become a social experience for members, with various social activities planned during the year.

Psalm 147 says, "Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praise to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him!" He has called us to not only worship Him in song but in every action of our life. Lifting our voices is one way in which we can offer our praise to God.

It is the desire of Cordova First Baptist Church to worship, honor, and glorify the Lord in every aspect of its music ministry. Music is important in the life of the believer, and in the collective worship in the church. We believe God is the Creator of music; and that He designed music for two specific purposes: Pleasure & Entertainment (I Timothy 6:17 - Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;) and Praise & Worship (Psalm 150:1-6 - Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.).
